10g Sample - Rattray's Old Gowrie Pipe Tobacco
Rattrays Old Gowrie is a broken flake of Kentucky, Perique and Virginia. Opening the bag, you are greeted by a pure tobacco scent, one thats mildly sweet and matured. Virginia is definitely present, with a touch of Kentuckys woody-smoky earthiness and some dark fruit from the Perique. The colour of the tobacco is fairly monochrome but what it lacks in colour it more than makes up for in apparent quality that you can feel in the texture of the leaf and the smell it gives off. Rubbing the tobacco further, you can appreciate how well it was put together into this broken flake, ready rubbed state. Old Gowrie smokes well too, it may take a little extra time to light, depending on how thoroughly rubbed it is but once it gets going its easy to keep alight. You are rewarded with plenty of charming smoke, nothing overly complex, just a truly pleasant, well balanced flavour.
