Gawith Hoggarth Kendal Black Irish XXX is a full bodied thick black twist made from dark fired leaf spun into a heavy rope using a traditional process going back centuries. It is steamed and cooked under pressure to turn it black and remove the stronger tar and nicotine characters turning into a mellower smoke than brown twist.
A cool mellow smoke, there is still plenty of flavour and nicotine, this is one recommended for experienced smokers.
Twist and Rope tobaccos have a double purpose. In the 19th & 20th century smoking was prohibited in the pits so the miners would chew the tobacco to release the nicotine. Nowadays experienced and curious pipe smokers slice it up and mostly smoke it in their pipes.
