For decades Gawith Hoggarth ,based in Kendal, the Lake District, has proudly produced these great old-school twist/rope tobaccos. You certainly will not find them on the shelf at your local supermarket.
Twist and Rope tobaccos have a double purpose. In the 19th & 20th century smoking was prohibited in the pits so the miners would chew the tobacco to release the nicotine. Nowadays experienced and curious pipe smokers slice it up and mostly smoke it in their pipes.
This visually beautiful Brown Irish Twist, made from dark fired and air-cured leaf has a generous top-dressing of Aniseed. Bringing back the good days.

We carefully weigh and pack all our loose pipe tobaccos to order. If you request a 1 x 25g pack or 2 x 25g packs, you will receive this in a branded non-resealable tobacco pouch clearly labelled with its contents. If you request 3 x 25g packs or more you will receive your tobacco in a convenient resealable air tight bag ensuring optimum freshness, also clearly labelled. Orders for 20 packets i.e. 500g will be dispatched in the manufacturer's original, unopened packaging.
